ERC emerged from an emergency roundtable held in Esbjerg, Denmark, on 6–7 October 2012, during a period of severe violence, displacement and destruction affecting Rohingya communities in Arakan. Rohingya scholars, activists and concerned individuals living in ဥရောပ came together to create a coordinated platform for action.

ဥရောပ ရိုဟင်ဂျာ ကောင်စီ was established to serve the Rohingya people, strengthen international advocacy and work toward protection, justice, equality and a sustainable future.

A future in which Rohingya people can live in peace and harmony with other ethnic communities in their ancestral homeland of Arakan, with equal rights, security and dignity.

ရိုဟင်ဂျာများသည် မည်သူများနည်း။

The Rohingya are an ethnic community from Myanmar with their own history, culture, language and religious traditions. Decades of discrimination, exclusion, military operations and the denial of citizenship have created one of the world's longest-running statelessness and displacement crises.
